Academic Excellence & Student Opportunity
Support for students through fellowships and scholarships builds a strong relationship with an exceptional group of undergraduate and graduate students that will become global leaders, innovators, and researchers.
Corporate sponsors may establish endowments or make other outright gifts to provide financial support for deserving students or create opportunities for students to pursue and achieve their educational goals. Scholarships may be given based on a student’s declared major, special talent or skill, grade point average, financial need, geographic location, or other designated affiliations or interests.
Student fellowships provide financial support enabling students to perform research or receive training in a particular field. Awards recognize student accomplishments and are typically made at the end of the academic year.
Faculty Excellence & Innovation
The University seeks to promote a culture of teaching innovation and excellence that supports faculty who are interested in scholarly inquiry and in developing teaching strategies to support meaningful learning and research. This culture of inquiry ensures the implementation of meaningful approaches to student assessment, of exploring emerging academic technologies, and other instructional and creative resources.
Corporate-sponsored endowments, professorships, fellowships, and awards acknowledge the accomplishments and dedication of UMW faculty and staff. Endowed chairs and professorships enable the appointments of distinguished leaders in their field, and offer support for academic and research efforts by exceptional faculty members.
Corporate sponsors that support research and faculty opportunities build a close relationship with faculty and students, emphasizing a company’s commitment to teaching innovation and academic excellence.
Program Support
Corporate support may create and name endowments, or make other outright gifts, to enhance academic programs, international study opportunities, or research capabilities. Endowments may also support campus beautification, student activities, operations, special projects, or cultural enrichment.
Naming Opportunities
Many gifts to the University enable donors to name scholarships or professorships. Donors of program endowments of $50,000 and more may also name a classroom or other appropriate space on campus.
Real Estate Gifts
Many gift options are available for the transfer of real estate assets including investment or commercial property.
